Nikah In Himachal Pradesh Temple: A Muslim couple married on Monday in a temple run by the Vishva Hindu Parishad here in Rampur in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has an office at the Satyanarayan Temple in Rampur, Shimla district. There is also a mosque near it, but the families of the bride and groom chose the temple for the nikah. A Maulvi conducted the Nikah in the presence of two lawyers and two witnesses. The procession was welcomed in the traditional Hindu way in the temple.

The temple trust told that Hindu organizations supported this marriage. The groom is a civil engineer and the bride holds an MTech degree. Vinay Sharma, general secretary of the temple trust, said, “The Vishwa Hindu Parishad is responsible for the management of the temple and there is also an RSS office in the temple premises.” He further said, “The RSS is often accused of being anti-Muslim and in such a situation this marriage ceremony is an important step towards communal harmony.”
