However, it takes a long time to recover from back problems. Officials say it will take four weeks for Bumrah to get back on his feet. But the recovery process is long. Because rehabilitation begins after recovery, which may take three to five months. In such conditions, it will be a tough challenge for Bumrah to get fit before the World Cup. According to a senior BCCI official, ‘It will be difficult for Bumrah to be fit on time. After he recovers from the surgery, he will have to go for rehabilitation. Once the rehabilitation is complete, it will be known when Bumrah will return.

When did Bumrah get a problem?

In July 2022, Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain after the second ODI against England. He did not play the third match after that. In August 2022, he missed the ODI series against West Indies. He missed the Asia Cup in August 2022 as he was not fit in time. In September 2022, he returned against South Africa ahead of the T20 World Cup. After bowling 5 overs in this series, his old injury flared up. In October 2022, he missed the T20 World Cup. He missed the New Zealand tour in November. We could not go to Bangladesh tour in December. Was in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka in January 2023 but withdrew due to back pain. In February 2023, Jasprit Bumrah was dropped from Border-Gavaskar Trophy, IPL and World Test Championship.
