The curtain raiser of the inaugural Women’s Premier League 2023 will be held on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
The first game of the inaugural WPL 2023 will be played between Gujarat Giants Women (GUJ-W) and Mumbai Indians Women (MI-W) at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Saturday, March 4. Both the teams have managed to field strong squads for the cash-rich event, Gujarat Giants will be led by Australia’s Beth Mooney while Mumbai Indians will be led by Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
Gujarat have been able to assemble a star-studded WPL squad and have focused more on bringing in top overseas players. Along with Mooney, the squad includes big names like Ashley Gardner, Diandra Datin, Sophia Dunkley and vice-captain Sneh Rana. Mumbai, on the other hand, have some powerful names like Nat Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr apart from the captain.
