Although he was available for the T20 World Cup to be played in 2021 and 2022, he was overlooked by the South African team selectors. During this time, du Plessis continued to play in T20 leagues around the world. He became the second highest run-scorer in the recently concluded South African T20 league. In this league he scored 369 runs in 10 matches. His highest score in the South African T20 League was 113 not out.

The last international match was two years ago

Talking about Faf du Plessis, he hasn’t played an ODI since the 2019 Cricket World Cup, but 2 years ago in 2020, he played a T20 match against England as his last international match. Du Plessis hopes to return to the team soon and bring his valuable experience.

According to Rapaport newspaper, ‘Du Plessis spoke to coach Walter. However, it is not yet clear whether he will be included in the T20 team for the upcoming West Indies series or not. The South African squad for the T20 series against the West Indies will be announced on March 6.

Markram could be the captain
