The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education has developed the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) system to record data related to indicators of school education provided by all States and Union Territories .

To reduce dropout…

The dropout rate of students is calculated gender-wise and social category-wise for different levels of school education. Education is in the Scheduled List of the Constitution and most of the schools are under the jurisdiction of the respective State and Union Territory Governments. To reduce dropouts, the Department of School Education and Literacy has launched an integrated centrally sponsored scheme for school education- Samagra Shiksha from 2018-19.

The scheme has now been aligned with the recommendations of NEP 2020 to ensure that all children have access to quality education with an equitable and inclusive classroom environment. He further informed that under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to the States and Union Territories for various activities to reduce the number of out-of-school children. This includes opening of new schools up to senior secondary level, establishment, upgradation and operation of Kasturba Gandhi Bashalka schools, establishment of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose residential schools.
