Wink Music

Airtel’s response to music streaming controversies Wink Music. The app ranks 1st or 2nd in the country with Spotify trailing behind. Wynk Music is cross-platform, so it can be enjoyed across Android, iOS and the web with essentially identical experiences. In 2022, podcasts are very popular and Wynk has a section for them. Through Wynk’s curated playlists, you can easily find tons of Bollywood music, old Hindi songs, hit international tunes, classic rock music and more.

Since joining Airtel’s portfolio, Wynk has seen great growth and is now available to Airtel customers free of charge. Non-Airtel users can also purchase premium subscriptions from the company. Although Wynk offers free music streaming, there are some limitations such as ads, poor quality and limited selection, on top of which free users can only stream 200 songs per month. JioSaavn

After Jio’s success, Saavn quickly became a Reliance acquisition after launching as an independent platform. Since then, the service has merged with Jio and changed its name JioSaavn. Despite having a larger user population than Wynk Music, it lags behind Wynk Music in the user charts. JioSaavn is also cross-platform with availability on smartphones, tablets and PCs. Besides music, JioSaavn customers get access to podcasts, regional content, Bollywood music, classic Hindi songs, hit international music and radio.

JioSaavn Pro, the platform’s premium subscription, is also offered free of charge on high-end Jio data plans, which is how Airtel has implemented it. However, non-Jio users can purchase JioSave Pro for monthly or yearly subscription. JioSaavn offers free music streaming, however, with some limitations, including ads, reduced quality, and a small selection of songs. These restrictions are lifted by the Pro subscription, along with the ability to download content in HD quality, among other benefits. JioSaavn Pro is available every month for Rs. 99 or Rs. 399 (discounted price Rs. 999).

One of the most loved streaming services in India singing. Gaana’s colorful UI appeals to many and it shows in the platform’s growth numbers. Like both JioSaavn & Wynk Music, Gaana is also cross-platform and available on PCs, tablets and smartphones. Gaana users can listen to music as well as radio and podcasts. Gaana is not affiliated with any telecom operator, so unlike JioSaavn and Wynk Music you won’t find premium subscription for free.

Along with Bollywood music, old Hindi songs, hit international songs, regional content and shows, overall Gaana has a huge content archive compared to other players in the segment. Gaana offers free music and podcast listening, but with some limitations, including ads and reduced quality. These limitations are removed with the Plus subscription (premium tier), which allows users to download their preferred content in Ultra HD quality, among other features. Gaana offers three plus membership options: Rs. 99 monthly plan; Rs. 249 for 6 months plus membership; and Rs. 299 for an annual membership plan.
