Tata vs Mahindra

Having recently crossed the sales milestone of 35,000+ units, the Tata Nexon EV has established itself as the strongest EV brand in the EV four-wheeler segment in India. On the occasion, Tata Motors took to Twitter to take a humorous dig at its Indian rival Mahindra. Similar to the Ather-Ola, PepsiCo-CocaCola, and Audi-BMW rivalries, the Indian automotive giants have been embroiled in an exchange of sarcastic comments.

Nexon EV’s 35,000+ mark has been crossed in just 2 years since its launch in 2020, establishing the brand as a force to reckon with. The upcoming Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV is yet to be launched in India and will be pitted against the likes of Tata Nexon EV Prime and Tata Nexon EV MAX.

Although the creative banter is new, both the Indian automakers have been battling it out in the SUV space in India for decades. In fact, Mahindra & Mahindra Chairman Anand Mahindra has been vocal about the healthy competitive relationship that the two indigenous companies share. The chairman expressed his fondness for constructive animosity, which according to him becomes a bed for innovation.
