Sri Lanka set a target of 285 runs for New Zealand and it will be difficult for India if they win

 

New Zealand vs Sri Lanka, 1st Test: The first match of the two-Test series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka is currently being played at the Christchurch ground. In this match, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 302 runs in the second innings, after which hosts New Zealand were given a winning target of 285 runs in the fourth innings of the match. With a view to reaching the final of the World Test Championship, this Test series is considered very important for Sri Lanka and India.

The Indian team is currently playing the last match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia at their home ground in Ahmedabad. If the result of this test match is a draw or if India loses it, Sri Lanka is likely to reach the WTC final. For this, the Sri Lankan team will have to be named for the two Test matches against New Zealand.

So far, the Sri Lankan team has performed better with the ball and the bat in the first Test match. In Sri Lanka’s second innings, veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews played a brilliant innings of 115 runs and played a key role in not only getting out of trouble but also providing a better target. Along with this, Dinesh Chandimal scored 42 runs and Dhananjaya de Silva also played a wonderful innings with 47 runs.

Tickner and Matt Henry proved their mettle in the bowling

Blair Tickner and Match Henry took 4 and 3 wickets with their bowling in the second innings of the Sri Lankan team from New Zealand. At the same time captain Tim Southee also took 2 wickets to his name. Earlier, New Zealand scored 373 runs in their first innings, allowing the Sri Lankan team to take a narrow lead from the first innings score.
