Iyer may return for his team KKR in some IPL matches. Last Wednesday, Iyer arrived at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, where he began his rehabilitation. The World Test Championship final after the IPL is very important and Shreyas Iyer is one of the main players in the Test team. In such a situation, apart from KKR, his comeback is also very important for Team India.
He refused surgery
Shreyas Iyer, who is currently struggling with a back injury, has refused to undergo surgery, which will keep him out of cricket for 6 to 7 months. In such circumstances, he will not be able to participate in the final of the World Test Championship to be held from June 7.
Iyer complained of back pain during the fourth Test match against Australia in Ahmedabad. After this he missed the ODI series against Australia.
Iyer met a specialist doctor in Mumbai for his injury, the doctor advised him to undergo surgery but Iyer refused the surgery keeping in mind the IPL and World Test Championship finals.
Why was the surgery denied?
While quoting a source, ‘Cricbuzz’ said, “He met the specialist and the NCA officials. All agreed that the operation can be avoided. He will follow the advice of the experts.
When can you play first match for KKR?
Please tell Iyer will take time to join KKR and play matches for the team. He will be given an injection on Thursday as part of the treatment process for the back injury. Until Iyer gets the go-ahead from the NCA, he will remain in Bangalore.
However, it is not yet clear how long it will take for him to return. Iyer needs NCA fitness clearance to join his franchise KKR. On the other hand, keeping in mind the ODI World Cup to be held this year, Iyer will rush for the IPL.
Significantly, in Iyer’s absence, Nitish Rana will take charge of KKR in the 16th season of IPL. Commenting on Iyer’s absence, the team’s head coach Chandrakant Pandit said, “Shreyas’ absence is important, but it is really unfortunate. We hope Shreyas will be back very soon and it will make a big difference in the team.
