The news comes after Reuters reported that Foxconn plans to at least quadruple the size of its operations in India over the next two years. Citing sources, the report said Taiwan-based Foxconn plans to increase the workforce at its facility in South India to 70,000 by hiring 53,000 workers over the next two years. Compared to their facility in Zhengzhou, Foxconn’s Tamil Nadu plant is very small.

Apple’s India operations have grown exponentially, with the company expected to grow by March 2023 at Rs. 2,500 crore worth of Made-in-India exports, double what it exported last year. Apple had earlier not considered manufacturing the iPhone 14 in India, but it postponed its plans two months earlier. Vanilla started making the model Its latest series in the country in September.
