Vivo has confirmed its upcoming flagship, possibly the Vivo X90, the first to be powered by the MediaTek Dimension 9200 SoC. Additionally, OPPO, Xiaomi, ASUS ROG and other brands will also have phones with the latest SoC.

The Dimensity 9200 is the first to be built on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process, which has improved heat dissipation. It is the first to integrate ARM Cortex X3 with operating speeds above 3GHz and the first to feature an ARM Immortalis-G715 GPU with a hardware-based ray tracing engine.

MediaTek Dimension 9200 supports both Worldwide mmWave 5G and sub-6GHz connectivity. For gamers, there is MediaTek HyperEngine 6.0 gaming technology for fast, fluid action. MediaTek MiraVision 890 display technology claims to bring any content to life.

MediaTek Dimension 9200 launched

The MediaTek Dimension 9200 is claimed to deliver up to 30 percent power savings with AI-NR (Noise Reduction) and 45 percent power savings with AI-SR (Super-Resolution) in all visual applications. Sixth-generation AI processing unit (APU 900) improvements include up to 35 percent faster performance in the ETHZ5.0 benchmark compared to the fifth-generation APU.

Connectivity: MediaTek Dimension 9200 is the first Wi-Fi 7-ready smartphone platform that supports data rates of up to 6.5Gbps. The chipset integrates advanced built-in 5G model with AI for faster network search, 5G connection recovery from dead zones and others. The chipset supports sub-6GHz and mmWave connections simultaneously.

Thanks to MediaTek’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi coexistence technology, users can connect Wi-Fi and Bluetooth low energy (LE) audio and wireless peripherals such as gamepads at the same time without interference.

The dual-antenna system intelligently switches between extreme performance and ultra-low power antennas based on real-time user needs.

Gaming: The Immortalis-G715 GPU promises 32 percent performance improvements compared to the previous generation. A hardware-based ray tracing engine and variable rate rendering technology are also supported. Tencent has partnered with Dark Zone Breakout to launch mobile ray tracing technology, the chipmaker said. With game engine optimization and meticulous polishing, the chipset delivers realistic effects like shadows, reflection and ambient lighting.

Camera: The MediaTek Dimension 9200 has an Imagiq 890 image signal processor which is said to capture impressive images in low light and bright conditions. For the first time, native RGBW sensors are supported. Thanks to MediaTek’s accurate and fast AI-NR photo capture technology, users can create better cinematic videos.

The Video Stream Engine The chipset fuses the APU and ISP, and it allows device manufacturers (OMEs) to add unique AI-video enhancements that make them faster and more powerful.

Memory and storage: The MediaTek Dimension 9200 supports LPDDR5X 8533Mbps RAM and UFS 4.0 with Multi-Circular Queue (MCQ), which gives each Cortex-A510 CPU core direct access to storage. It is said to significantly increase data transmission Multi-threaded applications.

presentation: Dimension 9200 supports FHD+ display up to 240Hz, WHQD up to 144Hz and 5K (2.5X2) with adaptive refresh rate up to 60Hz. MediaTek’s AI Region PQ detects regions, objects and scenes in each image and applies selective enhancements such as AI-color blue mitigation and tracking bokeh for static shots, in motion and multiple people respectively.

MediaTek AI-SR/MEMC extends battery life while automatically upgrading streaming media to the display’s native resolution and framerate.

availability

Devices powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200 will be available in the market by the end of 2022. OEMs can use MediaTek’s Dimension Open Resource Architecture (DORA) program to customize chipset features for local markets, customer needs and smartphone needs, the company said.
