MS Dhoni Cricket Academy, Rajkot: Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has opened his second cricket academy in Gujarat. He started his academy in Rajkot, Gujarat. For this academy, he worked with Greenwood International School in the city. It was launched last Thursday. Keshav Ranjan Banerjee, Dhoni’s sports teacher and childhood coach, said the aim was to provide quality coaching and mentoring to talented children.
With this academy, Rajkot becomes the second city in Gujarat to have a Mahendra Singh Dhoni Cricket Academy. Dhoni opened his first cricket academy in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in 2021, in association with Shree Enterprises. Dhoni Cricket Academy franchise rights are held by Shree Enterprises. Mahendra Singh Dhoni Cricket Academy also runs a small coaching facility at Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar, Mehsana. Mahendra Singh Dhoni Cricket Academy CEO Sohail Rauf said, “Saurashtra Ranji team has been performing well for many years and this year too they are doing exceptionally well… Our academy provides coaching and mentorship and we want our academy kids to play. For Saurashtra.”
Former Delhi Ranji player Sohail Rauf further said, “His (Dhoni’s) vision is to provide the best infrastructure, equipment, coaches and experience to young talent. As a cricketer, in the last 25-30 years, I have experienced the struggle that a cricketer has to go through and our endeavor is to give the best we can to the present generation.
It is noteworthy that there are Mahendra Singh Dhoni Cricket Academy in many cities of India besides Gujarat. It includes Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi and Rajasthan.
