Royal Enfield is the first electric bike
According to the latest published reports Coach India, Royal Enfield is working on a new electric bike to enter the EV space in the markets. Royal Enfield seems all set to shift away from its traditional ICE-based motorcycles towards electrified powertrains as its new project codenamed ‘Electrik01’ has come to light. new The Electrik01 is likely to incorporate longstanding Royal Enfield design cues and follow a futuristic-retro design theme.
Royal Enfield The Electrik01 is going to adopt a unique design language and incorporate a girder fork setup to handle the front suspension duties. This can be done to recapture the wonderful and vivid retro motorcycling heritage that the brand still embodies. The Electrik01 also features a traditional round headlamp cluster, though it could get upgraded LEDs like the new Super Meteor 650. The Electrik01 also hosts Royal Enfield’s signature teardrop fuel tank.
The Royal Enfield Electrik01 will also advance in its fundamentals and the vehicle is expected to have higher manufacturing standards and better fit and finish levels and build quality. The new Electrik01 can also wear compounds wrapped in tubeless tires.
However, the original production-spec Royal Enfield Electric01 is yet to hit the roads. The project is still in what the company calls a QFD (Quality Function Development) concept. At this stage, many parts of the bike are subject to change as Royal Enfield considers the needs and wants of its customer and also takes into account production constraints and financial feasibility. The product is then thoroughly tested, a step the company has put a lot of effort into in recent years.
Hence, it is too early to speculate about the launch timeline and estimated price bracket of Royal Enfield Electric 01. As far as we know, the Electrik01 is still ‘Made Like a Gun’.
