#Disclaimer: i usually buy phone that last 4-5 years. my moto g5 plus was bought on 3rd april 2017 and this year due to some apps updates my phone got bricked.(current apps are built with intention of android 10-11-12 and moto g5 plus doesn’t have OS updates after 8) i searched for good phones in decent price range i know you guys think there are many phones which are Beast at 30-40K. in my opinion nope they aren’t. they aren’t Beast enough to last 5 years. SO, FOR THAT REASON i decided to wait for a year until then i wanted a basic phone that can at least let me take calls, use some communication apps like whatsapp, whatsapp business, telegram. which is why i went for this phone.

camera is worst (although i wasn’t expecting camera to be best but in comparison to my old phone moto g5 plus, yes this phone has worst camera.)

Bloatwares are annoying you can’t uninstall it even by using UAD (universal android de-bloater). i force stopped it, removed from notification list, disabled it and still in background processing log i found that palm store, hitheme, visha player, xshare apps were running and been updated. there are many times some apps get updated even when you have made auto update off.

there is one app called freezer, you can’t even find it’s package file to uninstall means it’s a part of HIOS 8.6 app that i don’t need but it cannot be uninstalled or cannot be removed from homescreen.

there is inadvertantly mode (mode which makes sure that phone screen doesn’t detect touch when it’s in pocket.) regardless of it’s on or off, i have found my phone multiple times with flash on or camera on. that’s because at lockscreen there are those 2 shortcuts.

#6 it’s true HiOS 8.6 has too many features and i am loving those features from on screen gesture control to off screen gesture control.

EVEN after all these stupid problems i was ready to use thise device. THEN CAME THIS TRULY LOVING(HATEFUL) PROBLEM.
PHone reboots anytime it wants. no matter you are using it or not. many times i would hear it’s reboot sound while in charging. then one day it rebooted while i was on call. then it started rebooting during important online transactions. that was the nerve wracking moment i decide to Return this phone.

so amazon set me up with technician visit. here is what this technician did. he installed Minspect app in my phone (which is a service related app only official servicing technicians can use it on other phones to do inspection) Truth about mispect app, it’s a Hardware inspecting app. which means that application only job is to diagnose the hardware of the phone, such as RAM, CAMERA, PROCESSOR and processing threads, audio, flash, charging unit.
AGAIN, it’s a hardware inspection tool not a software inspection tool.

so he said with his smuge face “but phone didn’t restart now when i did test”

My apologies but i wanted to SLAP this advait guy. for 2 reason.
#1 he didn’t show up at my delivery address, he asked me to come to railway station.
i get it, my place is little far from station and with humble opinion i decided to meet him half way.

#2 he is performing that hardware inspection in front of me while i explained me at least 4 times it’s a software issue it’s the operating system that was not correctly installed.

so he went away said he’ll report about it. then after 2 hours, after receiving inspection completion notification. i reached out to amazon again. to my surprise “technician has reported as issue resolved” said amazon agent.

i had to explain amazon agent everything for 40 min then he said he’ll setup another technician visit on 27th august (which is tomorrow).
knowing what happened last time i know this new techinician would be doing the same. inspect hardware and report it as resolve. so i took matter in my own hand, what’s a point of having engineering degree if we can’t diagnose the root cause of this absurd restart.

so inorder to diagnose the device without losing warranty is by using USB-debugging method. connecting device to PC and through android studio logcat i was able to find that if there is any thread error occurs it doesn’t close the app (just like in past android OS if there is an error it would show “soAndso app has stopped working”) it reboots the entire phone. WHY? the very first reason mentioned in the review HiOS 8.6 RAM management software is worst.

so i have this video + the printed out logcat about when and for what reason Shutdown() was triggered.

Best for middle class people to buy showing for rich one

TL:DR:
1) If you are on a really tight budget, you can go for this phone.
2) The HiOS is very bloated, buggy, laggy OS. Eventhough this is based on Android 12, using this phone feels like a using a prehistoric, old OS
3) If you can spend 1k~2k more, go for other manufacturers.
4) TECNO should ditch their HiOS and stick to Pure android OS if they want to see success in the Indian market. The OS is destroying the performance of the phone which has really good H/W specs for this price point.

PRO’s:
1) 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage.
2) Decent Processor and Graphics for entry level gaming
3) Large Display
4) Front Single and Rear Dual Flash

CON’s:
1) For a full charge from 0% to 100%, it will take 3 to 3.5 Hours
2) The HiOS is very bloated, buggy, laggy OS. Eventhough this is based on Android 12, using this phone feels like a using a prehistoric, old OS
3) Lots and Lots of junk apps that cannot be removed. Palm Store is the worst of the lot, It keeps sending notifications even when the app is disabled.
4) The battery life suffers because of the bloated operating system and the unwanted applications that are running in the background.
5) Lack of battery optimization features in HiOS
6) Doubtful if this device will receive future Android OS updates in the future (13/14) as TECNO has not mentioned anything about this on their website.
7) Camera is not upto the mark and do not expect great pictures.
8) The S/W based RAM extension is useless as the 64GB/128GB ROM is slow and using this as the extended RAM is equivalent to using the Mechanical HDD as the extended RAM on Desktop computers.

phone is very good and you can buy for this price range . I am satisfied of its performance.. people always try to look something which they never use , dont do that is this .
