Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release date, India price, gameplay, and everything else you need to know

Activision recently revealed this year’s Call of Duty title, called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The upcoming game will serve as a follow-up to 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot. The development of Modern Warfare 2 is being led by Infinity Ward, which developed all previous Modern Warfare games. Like previous CoD games, Modern Warfare 2 comes with an all-new campaign and multiplayer experience. Infinity Ward adds new gameplay mechanics to improve combat and streamline loadout customization. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Date

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to release on October 28 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Players who pre-ordered the game will be able to play the campaign starting October 20. Activision launched Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on November 16 as the follow-up to Modern Warfare 2, and like its predecessor, it will be a free-to-play standalone multiplayer experience.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay

Like previous Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare 2 has campaign and multiplayer components. The campaign will begin after the events of the Modern Warfare reboot from 2019. It stars Captain John Price, Simon “Ghost” Riley, Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish and a new character named Colonel Alejandro Vargas. The campaign takes place in continents like Europe, US and Asia. The squad works to neutralize a terrorist plot to attack the US. The Modern Warfare 2 campaign includes underwater combat, explosive attacks on enemy bases, and stealth missions.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer experience reintroduces Ground War matches as well as 6v6 modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination. The game features separate third-person playlists, which are separated from the first-person. Combat has also been improved, and players will now have the option to dive underwater to hide from enemies. Players can also dive and hang from ledges. Apart from these, Gunsmith has been revamped to offer even better customization. Players can use weapon platforms in Gunsmith to seamlessly switch weapon types while retaining attachments.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 includes multiplayer core (6v6) and battle (Ground War, Invasion) maps. So far, five core maps have been confirmed, including Farm 18, Breinburg Hotel, Mercado Las Almas, Marina Bay, Valderas Museum and the Grand Prix. Confirmed battle maps include Santa Sena, Said, and Sharif Bay. These battle maps are points of interest from Warzone 2.0’s new Al Mazrah map. In addition to these, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 introduces two new 6v6 multiplayer modes called Prisoner Rescue and Knockout, as well as a 40v40 mode called Invasion.

Modern Warfare 2 brings back the Special Ops mode, a two-player co-op mode that takes place after the main campaign. Spec Ops mode will be available in the game at launch. In addition to these, Modern Warfare 2 will get another co-op mode called Raids, a three-player mode where players will need strategic approach and puzzle-solving while engaged in intense combat.
