Tata Motors recently #JetEdition unveils special edition models Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV MAX in India. The Tata Tiago EV will be added to the EV model portfolio and the Tata Tigor EV will sit just below the compact sub-4m sedan.
Tata Tiago EV Features
Ahead of its India launch on September 28, Tata Motors has announced that its entry-level EV hatchback, the Tiago EV, will come with multi-level regenerative braking, cruise control and a dedicated sports mode. Multi-Gen Regenerative Braking is a feature introduced in Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV MAX. The Tigor EV is also likely to arrive very soon. This feature enables extended range and even one-pedal driving, a helpful addition for city driving situations with the hatchback.
According to Tata, the Tiago EV is also expected to get cruise control and a dedicated sports mode. The Tiago EV is likely to adopt the Tigor EV’s ZipTron EV powertrain, which includes a generator motor. 75hp of power and 170Nm of torque and paired with a 26kWh lithium-ion battery is good for a claimed range of 306km. The powertrain accepts fast 25kW DC charging and full charges in under 1 hour and 5 minutes at that speed.
Such is the difference between the ICE powered Tiago and Tigor, it can be expected that the Tata Tiago EV will be priced one lakh cheaper compared to the Tigor EV. Tata Tigor EV is priced at Rs. 12.49 lakh to Rs. 13.64 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tiago therefore opens up EV ownership opportunities to many buyers at Rs. One can start a little above the 10 lakh mark.
