Airtel claims that only 9 percent of phones and 30 percent of phone shipments support 5G in India. The comment was reportedly made during a JPMorgan conference last week.

Bharti Airtel is gearing up to launch its 5G network across the country soon and complete it by the end of next year. But then again, if the telco postpones the network rollout schedule, it will lose competition as Jio and Vee are set to launch the network.
The company said the monetization opportunity currently lies in the consumer segment as consumers upgrade from 4G to 5G. Monetization opportunities from enterprise applications will take some time as the segment is gradually evolving.
The sixth edition of India Mobile Congress (IMC) will be held from October 1 to 4. It is jointly managed by Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the government expects that 5G services will be available in the country by October 12 and installations are underway.
